Why Choose RICH SOLAR
RICH SOLAR has been a leader in the off-grid solar industry since 2005, with a focus on bringing the world's best solar products to market while providing world-class customer service.
This flush mount was the perfect set up four our pickup camper, very little space taken, it works flawlessly with our solar and heated lithium batteries, the Bluetooth pairs well with all Bluetooth devices in the charging system. Super easy to set up and use.
Staff at Rich solar were over the top to answer questions and help verify that this would work in our system, some of the nicest people to work with.
We will be expanding our system and will be a returning customer!!!! Thank you Rick solar!!!
I reached out to Rich Solar with a technical question about my 30A MPPT solar charger. After troubleshooting the issue, their team determined that the controller was no longer working and needed to be replaced.
The good news was that the unit was still under the manufacturer’s warranty and would be replaced free of charge. The bad news was that they were out of stock on the direct replacement. Rather than wait for the original unit to come back in stock, I chose to upgrade to the 40A PRO MPPT Controller and simply paid the difference in cost. The new controller arrived just a few days later, and I was back in business.
Great team and excellent customer service!
Amazing hardware but the firmware and app could use a bit more work.
This MPPT can regulate down to 15V, a good 3 V lower than any other controller I tried. Which means you get more charge time per day and better compatibility with older lower voltage panels. My previous controller didn't work with the stock RV panels because the Vmppt was too low for the controller.
It seems to track fast and exceptionally well. It is recessed mounted (unlike all other brands) and looks great. the quality of the "phoenix"" connectors is way better than most. Other uses have reported bluetooth range issues but I have not seen that at all. The bluetooth range and penetration is better than almost all my other devices. I was also very pleased that the settings have 10mV and 10mA range, 10x more resolution than most brands. For LifePo4 the difference between 13.3 and 13.35V is huge so this is a very appreciated feature no other controllers have.
Over all this is the best built and performing MPPT I have tried in this class of controllers. Although I was disappointed to see mid tier capacitors inside and not Nichicon/Rubycon or similar.
On the downside the three button UI and screen can be challenging so the app is really needed to program. The firmware lacks current tail turn off (only time tail turn off), a way to disable the LCD backlight, and even though it reads the battery temp fine it lacks a do not charge below X temp setting. I was also disappointed that LiFePo4 mode is fixed at 14.2V and no way to adjust.
The app custom mode is more tweaked for LA and SLA batteries and lacks some of the options that LiFePo4 would want like cell balance mode etc. And the daily / monthly reporting is a bit weak and has no export compared to some other brands. I miss the clear at a glance daily specs of a "battery manufactures" controller brand, or the downloadable daily vs time levels of my low cost shunt.
So the hardware is very solid and amazing. The app and the firmware could use a few more revisions to fill in the holes but since this just came out a few months ago I trust they will get there.
Overall good, easy install, looks original equipment, charges batteries well, flexible and easy to configure. Bluetooth connectivity is not great. Much shorter distance than other Bluetooth devices and occasionally drops out completely and can be unreachable. This could span several days.
This may be the only flush mounted MPPT solar charge controller on the market, and it is fantastic. I am glad Rich Solar offers this. The Bluetooth app feature is also great.
